One of the most important aspects of making ourselves more resilient as a community is food. We are currently reliant on an unsustainable and hugely inefficient food supply system which is not only dependant on oil for its transportation, packaging and refrigeration, but the entire modern agricultural systems which produce it are also all heavily oil dependant.
As a community we are lucky enough to have many local producers and suppliers within the area. We also have access to facilities for growing our own fruit and vegetables.
As part of Transition Nayland we would like to encourage and help people in a number of ways, some ideas are listed below:
