Transition Nayland

Energy

Every part of our daily life is becoming more and more energy dependant, over the past 50 years we have become to rely on an endless supply of cheap energy, all produced by finite and carbon emitting fossil fuels. If we are to become more resilient as a community, we have to reduce our dependency on the global and increasingly volatile sources of energy.

Whether you believe in Peak Oil or Climate Change or both, its clear from rising energy costs, that we need to improve on how we use and produce energy.

Potential projects

As part of Transition Nayland we are actively encouraging energy efficiency and renewable generation through various initiatives:

  • Reducing energy consumption Such as low energy solutions, better insulation etc
  • Home generation Such as solar hot water, solar PV and biomass
  • Larger communal schemes Such as Combined heat and power (CHP), hydro, wind

Information and guidance

Government grants and loans, together with the new Feed in Tariffs (FiTs), are now making domestic renewable options financially viable. Over the next 12 months we will also see the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and the Green Deal, offering further funding options.

Making your home more energy efficient is now even easier and cheaper with more Government funding for insulation and low energy lighting specialists
